Many still believe that plaster must be applied to lathe. That is no longer the case! Many of the products we utilize can be applied directly to sheetrock after proper priming. You will get a finished product that will last for years and decades. It’s also easy and cost-effective to touch-up and repair. It’s highly durable and very applicable in a wide-range of situations these days.
Plaster has many other benefits, as well. When we say “breathing,” we mean that literally. It is a breathable medium that makes it perfect for use in humid areas, such as New Orleans and the South. It’s ideal for anything from new construction to historic spaces where moisture retention inside the walls can be an ongoing issue. Being that plaster has either no or low-VOC’s, it can help prevent issues with allergies. It’s also effective at sound absorption, making it a great choice for certain commercial settings or spaces where noise can be an issue.
We’re able to achieve a glass-like sheen (at right) that reflects with certain products. This is something most plasterers cannot do!
Another great part about plaster? It’s cost-effective, too! In addition to being long-lasting and easy to repair, the cost per square foot can be very competitive when compared to using a highly-skilled painter using designer paints.
